The Brewing Process!
At Granite Bay Brewing Company, brewing is more than a process—it’s a passionate craft where artistry and science converge. For our brewers, it begins with the thrill of selecting premium grains, usually barley, and transforming them through malting to unlock the essential sugars. Milling these grains and mixing them with hot water to create the mash is where the true excitement starts. Here, enzymes work their magic, converting starches into fermentable sugars and setting the stage for something extraordinary.
Watching the wort—now a golden, fragrant liquid—separate from the grain husks and then boiling with aromatic hops is a moment of alchemical delight. Hops bring complexity, aroma, and a touch of bitterness, while the boiling process ensures a pure, pristine brew. The rapid cooling and transfer to fermentation tanks mark the beginning of the yeast’s transformative work, where sugars become alcohol and bubbles.
